NGC 3628

Member of the 'Leo Trio' of galaxies

This is a spiral galaxy seen edge-on.

Exposure:                   L = 120 min 1x1, RGB = 40 min 2x2
Date:                           Feb 18, 19, 2009.
Comment:                  This galaxy appears to be surrounded by an extremely faint aura of stars. This can be seen most easily to the upper left of the galaxy itself where a tail of stars extends off to the left.
